English lessons built around you

Want to answer a client’s questions with more confidence? Applying for a scholarship abroad? Worried about a speaking exam? We’ll start by talking about what you need to do, then choose activities that help you get there. You’ll know why we’re practicing something and where you’ll use it.

All lessons take place online, so you can join from home or work. You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a microphone, a camera and a quiet place to talk. I work with adults and students aged 12 and over.

Individual lessons at your pace

In a one-to-one lesson, we can give your questions and priorities our full attention. We might rehearse an interview, work through a presentation or build an exam answer step by step. You’re welcome to bring your own materials; please remove any confidential work information first.

Lessons can cover:

• Everyday conversation, travel and getting things done abroad

• Vocabulary, pronunciation and listening skills

• Job interviews and talking about your professional experience

• Meetings, presentations and business emails

• Extra support with schoolwork and preparation for language exams
  

You don’t need perfect English to get started. Mistakes show us what needs practice. You’ll get clear explanations and specific suggestions, then try out what you’ve learned in a new situation.

Small group lessons with personal attention

If you and a few others have similar goals and are at a similar level, learning together can work well. You’ll practise with different people and learn from their questions and ideas as well as your own.

We’ll use role-plays, discussions and problems to solve together. For colleagues learning as a group, we can build activities around your working day: a project meeting, a client conversation or a technical discussion, for example. We’ll agree on the group and lesson times before starting.

Business English for the work you do

If you’re an engineer or another professional working internationally, you need to communicate your expertise clearly in English. We’ll practise explaining technical problems, supporting your recommendations and handling clients’ questions, using language you can take into meetings, negotiations and business trips.

Bring a presentation you’re preparing or a situation you regularly face at work. We’ll rehearse the conversation, including unexpected questions, then look at how to make your answers clearer or more confident. We’ll plan lesson times and practice between sessions around your work and family commitments.

English for your next step at university

A scholarship interview, a seminar discussion and an internship interview each call for a different kind of preparation. We’ll start with your plans and deadlines, then practise introducing yourself, making an argument and explaining ideas from your field of study.

We can also review your presentation or an application you’ve written. I offer language review of English-language theses and academic work, including sessions where we go through the text together. If you need IELTS, we’ll work towards your target score. We’ll also plan independent practice to help you make the most of your time and budget.

English for secondary school students

When there isn’t much time for you in class, it can be hard to finish a thought, let alone ask a question. Here, you’ll have that time. We’ll work with topics that interest you and use short, varied activities. If something doesn’t work first time, we’ll find out where you got stuck and try again.

Preparing for the advanced-level English érettségi or a B2 or C1 language exam? We’ll develop your speaking, reading, listening and writing. You’ll get specific feedback on your written work, so you know what to improve and how.
